MAG's Guide to Punking Your Chucks
1. Yes…FRESH CHUCKS!
Check the expiration date to make sure they’re FRESH…wait, they’re Chuck Taylors, they’re always FRESH!
A tape lint remover helps to remove dust, threads, lint, etc,…THEN, ready for paint!
The first paint applied is the base coat. This provides a smooth painting surface for detail work. I mostly use Angelus, Plaid Fabric & Liquitex for the best result.
Cleaning off excess paint with 91% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs.
The outline and detail of "Pink Floyd’s The Wall" is painted onto the chucks, which starts to show how the design will look.
More detail is hand painted by MAG and this can take several hours to complete.
Text detail is added to the back strip on the Converse sneaker.
Excess paint is cleaned up carefully with alcohol and cotton swabs.
The final design is then heat set with a blow dryer or heat gun.
Once cooled I carefully spray over the painted surfaces with a clear flexible polyurethane or lacquer. Let dry and then ship them out to you!!
